Emoji Subtitles™ is built for people of all ages, including older adults and anyone who finds small text or busy screens hard to use. We want everyone to be able to understand their messages here.
What we do today
- Large, high-contrast text and buttons in a consistent navy, gold, and white design.
- A “Skip to main content” link for keyboard and screen-reader users.
- Visible focus outlines so you can see where you are when using a keyboard.
- Labels on form fields and buttons, and descriptive page headings.
- Layouts that work on phones, tablets, and computers, and with browser zoom.
- We aim to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and check pages with automated tools and manual keyboard testing.
Known limitations
- Emojis are read aloud by screen readers using the names your device provides, which may not always match their meaning in a text message.
- Checkout and billing pages are run by our payment providers, and their accessibility is outside our direct control.
- We are a small team and may not have caught every issue. We treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a finished task.
